A City of Bones: The Magical Book That Transformed My Life
Updated: Dec 8, 2024
Hey loves, it’s Dulce here with Couture Talks, and today I’m taking you on an exciting journey into one of my all-time favorite books that completely changed my life, City of Bones by Cassandra Clare! 🌟💖
I remember it like it was yesterday, middle school me, a girl who didn’t get the appeal of reading, trying to figure out what all the hype was about. Then, BOOM, my friend introduced me to the Shadowhunters, and my whole world flipped upside down! She let me borrow all the books in the Mortal Instruments series, plus the correct order (because yes, there is a specific one!!). I couldn’t get enough; to top it off, she surprised me with the best news EVER!! City of Bones was going to be adapted into a TV show! 😱 Talk about a fangirl moment! Thank you to my amazing friend who showed me this magical world, you have my gratitude! 💖
What’s the Big Deal About City of Bones?
It’s set in a super cool fantasy world where angels, demons, vampires, werewolves, and more all exist alongside us! And at the heart of it are the Shadowhunters half-angel, half-human warriors who protect humanity from the dark forces that lurk in the shadows: demons. And here’s where Clary Fray comes in, she’s just your average 15-year-old girl living in New York City. One night at the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she witnesses a murder, and it’s not just any murder, it’s committed by three teenagers with strange tattoos.
As Clary is dragged into this hidden world, she discovers she’s more connected to it than she ever imagined. As her mother disappears mysteriously, Clary is thrust into a world filled with magic, danger, betrayal, and of course love. As she teams up with the sexy and brooding Jace Wayland, Clary uncovers dark secrets about her past and her mother’s involvement with the elusive Valentine, a villain with a sinister agenda to control the world using powerful artifacts. And trust me, you won’t believe the plot twists that come next. 🔥💥
But it’s not just the epic plot that makes City of Bones so addictive, it’s the characters! Clary, Jace, Simon, Alec, and Isabelle have this dynamic that feels so funny and authentic. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll definitely swoon over the chemistry between Clary and Jace. But what I really love is Isabelle Lightwood, she’s fierce, she’s tough, and she’s a total badass (seriously, she’s one of my faves)! She shows us that being strong and unapologetically yourself is the key to conquering any battle, and let’s just say I aspire to be her! 😎✨Every character brings something unique to the table, and their relationships with each other are built on love, loyalty, and trust. It’s no wonder that City of Bones and its sequels have such a massive fanbase.
